LMDE 6 codenamed Faye is released Wednesday, 27 September 2023. It is now based on the latest Debian 12 Bookworm. Connect Mint's Nemo File Manager with Nextcloud

This tutorial explains how to integrate your GNU/Linux Mint computer with Nextcloud online storage service. The file manager used is Nemo and the service chosen is Operation Tulip (which I have reviewed). Linux Mint with Windows 7 Theme

This article explains step by step to change GNU/Linux Mint operating system user interface to mimic W7 especially after its official support ended in this January 2020. You can practice this tutorial in Cinnamon Edition and you will install 2 types of theme plus 1 original wallpaper here. By this tutorial, I want to help people who find it's easier to migrate to Free Software if their desktop looks like their previous OS. I believe helping them are good and useful. Take Screenshot of LightDM Login Screen in 2020

There are not many clear tutorials available in taking picture of the login screen of latest Ubuntu, Mint, and elementary OS. Their login screen technology is called LightDM. You cannot simply press Printscreen key in the login screen to create its screenshot. Instead, you need a complicated way with superuser access to do so. This might give you frustration if you do not know the way especially if you are a writer like me. Fortunately, it is easy and everybody can do it like my explanations below. You can do this both in LiveCD session and in an installed system. I write this tutorial by testing it first on elementary OS 5.1 Hera that released recently at the end of 2019. After a long time, I am happy to finally figure out this method. Enjoy!

A Quick Comparison between Deepin, Mint, and Elementary

I tried to make this article to help everybody find a desktop choice among Deepin, Mint, and Elementary operating systems. I select them because they are solely focused on desktop and have developed their own user interface. They are all GNU/Linux systems from Debian family, but with several distinctions you may love to see. For example, they differ on their own file managers, user interface layouts and built-in apps and several more things.

KDE and GNOME on Mint 19.1

This tutorial introduces how to install KDE Plasma and GNOME desktop environments on Mint 19.1 "Tessa". As you may know, Mint since 2018 abandoned their KDE Edition (the last Mint KDE Edition is 18.3), and since the very beginning never released GNOME edition. Many of us perhaps prefer to have KDE or GNOME on their Mint system so this is tutorial you can use. I use Mint XFCE Edition 19.1 to practice this and I recommend you to start with this edition as well. Finally, happy installing and have a nice day!

CinnXP Desktop Theme in Mint Cinnamon 19

How To Upgrade Linux Mint from 18 to 19 LTS

This tutorial explains how to upgrade Linux Mint operating system from 18 to 19 (LTS to LTS) with screenshots and more information. This involves two steps of upgrade, the first is upgrading to 18.3 and the second is to 19. You will use mix of GUI and CLI (Software Updater and Terminal) to perform whole steps. This may takes up to 1GB data download, needs 4GB free space or more, and more than 1 hour (mine takes +/-4 hours) to finish all download and upgrade. Please consider again that upgrading is always risky and only do this if you are ready with it. This tutorial uses Linux Mint Cinnamon Edition (LMCE) as example and you can apply this tutorial to LMME and LMXE as well. Anyway, happy upgrading and good luck!

Here's complete download links of Linux Mint 19 "Tara" LTS in Cinnamon, MATE and XFCE editions. It's released today Friday, 29 June 2018 for both 32 bit and 64 bit architectures. It's also a Long Term Support version to be supported until 2023 and based on Ubuntu 18.04. The only unusual thing in this release is the removal of the KDE Edition. You can download directly all ISO images and the torrents here and you can immediately compare your SHA256SUM here after you check your downloaded ISO image. Happy downloading!
