About LMDE

Linux Mint Debian Edition (LMDE) is an official edition of Linux Mint which based on Debian instead on Ubuntu. Linux Mint is the oldest, surviving Ubuntu Desktop operating system variant from Ireland, Europe, well known for its green logo and Cinnamon Desktop, a modified version of Ubuntu's GNOME 3. As the developers said "Its goal is to ensure Linux Mint would be able to continue to deliver the same user experience, and how much work would be involved, if Ubuntu was ever to disappear. LMDE is also one of our development targets, to guarantee the software we develop is compatible outside of Ubuntu."

1. You want to use Mint on older hardware i.e. 32-bit laptops.

2. You want Mint without relying to Ubuntu's or with relying to Debian packages instead.

3. You want to experience new things.
