The Tale of Always-Latest KDE Distros: Krypton, Neon, Chakra, KaOS, and Fedora KDE

I love KDE. I want an article introducing GNU/Linux distros dedicated to latest KDE so I write this one after my list of XFCE distros. By latest here I mean a distro which the ISO image is produced often (say, daily) to contain latest KDE release in the all three components of the Plasma, the Applications, and the Frameworks. A First Timer Review of KDE neon Operating System

KDE neon is the official operating system of the modern and powerful KDE Slimbook laptop. This OS looks very beautiful and cool. It is very stable, based on Ubuntu LTS, and --the most important thing is-- it brings the latest KDE Plasma and Applications directly from The KDE Project itself. KDE neon is a perfect OS for everyone to use the best free software technology for computing as well as to know KDE. For software engineer, KDE neon is the best showcase of software built with Qt Framework. This is my first review of KDE neon based on version 5.13.5 from September 2018. I hope you will like it. This guide will not explain any of KDE technical or historical side. This article is written for those who never use Linux or KDE before. I use KDE 4.10 on Ubuntu 12.04 for this article.

A Summary Between KDE Plasma 5.18 LTS and GNOME 3.36 Gresik

After publishing my latest GNOME and then Plasma articles, I think it is interesting to summarize between them in a separate article considering several interesting stuffs. First, their release date are the same, 11, except Plasma is in February and GNOME is in March. Second, they publish interesting videos and announcements I listed below. Third, they had conferences in 2019 that back them up namely Akademy and GNOME.Asia Summit I also listed below. Fourth, they have users who love to write reviews such as Dedoimedo and OMG! Ubuntu I listed below too. Last but not least, I also mentioned where to download their source code, to contribute to them, and the donation links. Bring Back KDE 4 Oxygen Theme to KDE Plasma 5

(Latest KDE 5 using KDE 4 "Oxygen" desktop theme)

I am a KDE user who loved KDE 4 even before it turned its name to "Plasma". The default theme of KDE 4 is called Oxygen, where KDE 5's is Breeze. Got modern Plasma and today the latest version reached 5.15, I had lost my favorite Oxygen theme. Thanks to a Kubuntu Forum post, I find it again. I can turn my Plasma 5 into Oxygen once again. This tutorial explains in step by step how to setup Oxygen desktop theme full with icons set by some manual customization through the System Settings. It's very easy. Enjoy!

Copy Date/Time To Clipboard Is (Apparently) Back on KDE Plasma 5

Did you use copy date/time to clipboard feature on KDE 4? I did that a lot and I loved that. That was one thing I missed since the inception of KDE 5. But, fortunately, and personally shockingly, I met this again starting from my updated KDE 5.13.5. It made me very happy and shocked in the same time when I ran latest Plasma 5.14.4 few days ago: "amazing, since when did this feature come back?" like that. When I went back to my Plasma 5.13.5, it's there too, and finally I obtained information that it's available again since Plasma 5.13.0 from April 2018. So let's see how is it now. Enjoy!

KDE Plasma 5.9 desktop environment has been released at 31 January 2017. This short review brings you short introductions about the new features in this release. The most interesting highlights are global menu, super+number task switching, and new look at Network Manager settings. This 5.9 release is a beautiful approach in both aesthetics and features for free desktop environment in the GNU/Linux world. KDE Applications 19.04 from Snap Store for Kubuntu Users

Great news announced on 18 April 2019 by KDE neon developers that KDE Applications 19.04 has been released for all GNU/Linux distros through Snap Store. This means KDE Project released their latest bundle of awesome, unique applications we know like Gwenview, Okular, Kig, KolourPaint, and so on in one time. And we in every GNU/Linux distro, as long as we have Snap installed, can install those applications without waiting our respective distro to provide them to us. Finally, happy installing!

How To Install KIM (KDE Image Menu) in KDE Plasma 5

KIM (KDE Image Menu) is a third party plugin for KDE to add context menu (the right-click) able to do convert and resize to image file. KIM is very useful because it adds those convert and resize options into the right-click in Dolphin when you browse image files. It can do those manipulations to both every single image and many images simultaneously. Just click and done.
