Here's my review of Linux Mint 20, the user friendly computer operating system from Ireland, Europe, released June this year, named Ulyana, and is also a Long Term Support version. This major release happened two months after its basis, Ubuntu Focal Fossa, and two years after the previous Linux Mint 19 Tara LTS, released. It brings a new star feature, called Warpinator, which enables us to share files between laptops easily via wifi hotspot, along with other features. It comes with great news too as now it shipped as their third generation branded computer MintBox3. I do this review using my Lenovo ThinkPad laptop with my favorite edition selection Cinnamon. Finally, now let's enjoy Ulyana goes on!

I tried to make this article to help everybody find a desktop choice among Deepin, Mint, and Elementary operating systems. I select them because they are solely focused on desktop and have developed their own user interface. They are all GNU/Linux systems from Debian family, but with several distinctions you may love to see. For example, they differ on their own file managers, user interface layouts and built-in apps and several more things.

You will also find which one still supports 32-bit PC nowadays, which one supports Flatpak by default, and more. Finally, I wish you can empower your PC and laptop with one of them. Enjoy!

 (Nautilus and Nemo file managers)

We, desktop users, search our files with file managers. Search feature is so important we need it everyday. This short article compares the two famous file managers, Nautilus from GNOME and Nemo from Cinnamon, in their own search features. I compare things like Sorting feature, Advanced options, Bookmark, and several more, some with GIF animations. I will use versions of both that are available in Ubuntu 19.04 repository to present this comparison. Enjoy!

In our latest article about Cinnamon, we told about tweaking. Now, we will give a basic guide about how to use Nemo. It is a file manager, a central part of Cinnamon Desktop and therefore a central too for Linux Mint (or any distro using it). You will learn basic actions in Nemo just like using Windows Explorer or Mac OS X Finder. FYI, Nemo may installed on Ubuntu if you dislike to use Nautilus (Ubuntu file manager). Enjoy.

If you find Recent Files in Cinnamon menu is annoying, then disable it. Unfortunately, Cinnamon System Settings has no option for this tweak yet. So you must do that manually. I use Cinnamon 2.2.13 on Linux Mint 17. This tweak is applicable to Cinnamon in another Linux distro.

After our previous usage guide, we come with Cinnamon customization guide. This guide will show you how to tweak Cinnamon and tell you some of its technical concepts. You will learn how to change wallpaper, desktop theme, icon theme, window theme, some desktop effects, and Cinnamon extensions. As a bonus, you will know how to reset Cinnamon customization to factory settings. This is a basic guide. You will only use Cinnamon System Settings to do all customization. Of course you will need more improvements because Cinnamon has very wide range of customization. This article is based on Cinnamon 2.2.13 on Linux Mint 17 Qiana. Enjoy your customization!

Cinnamon is an official desktop environment for Linux Mint. Cinnamon is created by Linux Mint developers. Cinnamon is a great desktop when it brings traditional concepts but modern facilities. Any ex. Windows user will quickly learn Cinnamon (compared to another desktop) because it is very similar. Cinnamon, is simple by interface but is very flexible by its extensions. This guide will introduce you basically how to use Cinnamon for general daily usage. This won't tell you any technical or historical side of Cinnamon. This Cinnamon is our seventh guide after our sixth LXDE. I use Cinnamon 2.2.13 on Linux Mint 17 here.

Recently, I wrote a post on how to install Linux Deepin Desktop on Ubuntu. Today, I'd like to write another post to install another desktop environment which can be installed on Ubuntu called Cinnamon. Cinnamon is developed by Linux Mint team which aims to create a flexible, easy-to-use, and full-featured desktop environment with traditional layout. The latest version of Cinnamon when I write this post is Cinnamon 1.8 which brings with a lot of bug fixes, many new features and enhancements.
