Page Styles are page designs. It is similar concept to Headings and Paragraph Styles but applied to pages instead. With them, you can make different page numbering in one document such as Roman first and Arabic later just like in academic writings. Alternatively, you can also make a document with different page orientations and/or margins as you wish. You can either use existing or create new ones of them. However, the secret of success in using Page Styles is a thing called Manual Break. This tutorial explains step by step to use them with examples. Enjoy writing!

Advantage of word processor in computing compared to typewriter machine in real life is that user can find a word far more quicker in a long text document. User can find anything by just one touch and find further by touching once again. Not only that, the most excellent advantage is that the word found can be replaced in entire document as user wishes. In LibreOffice Writer, these two advantages are available in Find & Replace feature (shortcut: Ctrl+H). You can find a word, a phrase, a sentence, even a pattern of text matched you wish. Later, you have two more options, first as words found all selected you can reformat them, and second you can replace them. This article will help you practice that with Writer. Happy learning!

Paragraph Style is paragraph design with a certain name. This is about how text looks around another text in same document. As you have learned from previous article, Headings in turn are actually Paragraph Styles for titles. With Paragraph Styles, you can make for example a small story book with a group of text which is normal surrounding another group of quotation text with different look, named NormalText and QuotesText respectively. To write your book, you just need to write whole text without formatting as plain text. To finish it, select some text to apply NormalText Style and select another to apply QuotesText Style. That's it! This way you save your time to do repetitive formatting as you have already designed their Paragraph Styles. For most cases, you even do not need to create a custom one as LibreOffice Writer already prepared many you can choose. You can also modify Paragraph Styles available if you wish.In this article we will learn how to use Paragraph Styles with examples. Happy writing!

Headings are automatic text styles used as titles. Headings are important parts of a document. Every heading is remembered by Writer and can be used to navigate, jump here and there, within long document quickly. You can use headings for titles and sub-sections; and on the other hand thanks to them you can also create table of contents like explained previously. PDF document you created if you used headings will show automatic table of contents as navigation items. We need headings when writing books and following a certain academic paper standard such as APA Style. LibreOffice Writer provides nice headings including ability to suit them to your needs. This tutorial explains the use and creation of headings by examples and pictures. Happy writing!

Just like on Scribus, we an also insert Lorem Ipsum dummy text on LibreOffice Writer. Simply go to menu bar Tools > AutoText (Ctrl+F3) > Standard > Lorem Ipsum > Insert. Done! This is on LibreOffice  5.1 on GNU/Linux; you may find the menu differs on other version. We don't need any extension to do this. Happy writing!
