This tutorial will help you protect your data and GNU/Linux filesystem on a battery that is not in 100% health anymore by re-adjusting low battery power warning on Kubuntu. By doing this, your system will show a notification of low battery at your choice for example at 55% is warning and 50% is critical and do something like shutdown automatically if that happens. We wish you the best!

Few days ago I got a news from social media that there is a new laptop brand from San Fransisco, United States coming to the world called Framework. It is a beautiful looking, innovative, high-performance, modular, upgrade-able repair-able laptop offered with either a proprietary operating system or none. Currently it opens preorders in the US with two choices, Regular and Do-It-Yourself editions, configurable at the website. There are already insights about Framework covered by the other websites such as Arstechnica, OMG! Ubuntu, Heise (in Deutsch). I think several important information are still lacking and here's this article to show you them.

Lately there is a severely annoying trouble with my laptop using all GNU/Linux operating systems I have. Whether I use Ubuntu or others, this trouble stopped me from working for days. When booting I can use my keyboard just fine but when I come into login screen I failed to press any button. The only clue I have is that after doing suspend in login screen I can use keyboard for just a few seconds. My diagnosis comes down into my touchpad cable and finally the solution is to unplug that cable and the trouble is gone. I share my experience below hoping this helps somebody else out there.

(Imagine you can enter a livecd but cannot type anything nor press any key that's so frustrating of course)

This tutorial explains easy steps to create wifi hotspot on Ubuntu laptop. With this you can share an internet access with friends and your other devices. It is very simple everyone can do. You don't need to install any application nor using terminal. This is based on Focal Fossa but certainly you can practice on prior or later versions too as long as their desktop is GNOME 3 such as Bionic Beaver or Groovy Gorilla versions. Happy sharing!

Laptop overheating is not a new issue. Specially after Ubuntu 11 series, the number of complaints against overheating and battery drainage has increased exponentially.

One superb and simple way to deal this issue is to use Jupiter. Jupiter is a light weight power and hardware control applet for Linux.  It is designed to improve battery life of a portable Linux computer by integrating with the operating system and changing parameters of the computer based on battery or powered connection.

It helps in controlling the heating to a certain extent and thus it also helps in improving battery life.
