Recently, I have written a post about on how to install ProZilla on Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail. As ProZilla has Text User Interface (TUI), new Ubuntu users might not interested in it. Typing a command on Terminal might be seems difficult for new users, it would be nice if there is a GUI (Graphical User Interface) which can do same tasks by clicking here and there. Well, ProzGui is a GUI version of ProZilla which has the same features as ProZilla. ProzGui provides the user with a windows environment that allows to manage the ProZilla download manager with greater ease.
TuxCut is an application which protects your Linux machine from NetCut users (available for Windows). It hides your computer from local area network so the NetCut users won't see your presence on the network, so that they can't "cut" your Internet connection. TuxCut protection mode simply uses arptables to prevent sending or receiving any arp packets from any other host on the network, only the gateway allowed to do so. Netcut send an arp packet to see if your host live or not, arp tables prevents your host to receive such packet so that netcut can’t see you are connected :D
The newly Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail will be released in this month. A lot of Ubuntu users will follow "things to do" tutorial after installing a new Ubuntu release such as installing some cool applications, configuring some basic options, and more. If you have not enough time to install those applications one by one, you might consider to use an application called "Ubuntu After Install".
Recently, I wrote a post about another download accelerator for Linux users, Xtreme Download Manager. In that post, I was unable to integrate the download manager into my web browser (Mozilla Firefox). Today, I'd like to share my experience integrating it with Mozilla Firefox with you all guys. OK, let's get started!
Formerly, DockbarX is a Gnome2 taskbar applet, AWN Applet, Mate taskbar applet and stand alone dock with groupping and group manipulation. Now, DockbarX can be used as a panel plugin for XFCE panel. With this application, Xubuntu users - like me - can get an icon only application launcher, grouping ability, theme supports, pin application to panel and more!
One of must have applications for Windows is a download accelerator which can multiplies your download speed. Internet Download Manager is one of popular applications in the category. How about Linux users like us? Do we have such application in Linux, especially Ubuntu? There are many good alternatives for download manager and or download accelerator from non fancy interface (terminal based applications) like prozilla, wget, aria, etc upto a full featured download manager like JDownloader. A new Linux users who often works with Internet Download Manager might find some difficulties when switching to those alternatives, so Xtremen Download Manager (XDMan) comes with a friendly user internet, like Internet Download Manager.

I have written a post about how to install LibreOffice 4.0 via deb packages. In that post, you have to download deb packages from LibreOffice from its official website and then install them manually. Using that method is good if there is no such application on Ubuntu repository or PPA repository. Finally, LibreOffice 4.0 has been packaged and uploaded into LibreOffice PPA on Launchpad, so you can install LibreOffice easily and get the update when available.
Google Drive with its office web application is a great office suite application alternative which provides a free, cross platform (because it's web based application) office suite for us. It allows us to create, edit, and collaborate office document with the other users. One of Google Drive advantages is we have to connect to the Internet in order to be able to access our Google Drive documents. It would be nice if there is an application which allows us to edit documents offline with basic syncing capability so we can sync edited document to Google Drive when connected to the Internet. GWoffice is obviously the answer for that matter!
RPM (Red Hat Package Manager) is a package format used by Red Hat, Fedora, and many others distributions. There are still some applications, especially old appications which is available only in RPM format. So, it's not easy to install that application on Ubuntu. Fortunately, there is an application called alien which can convert RPM package into several package format including Ubuntu package (deb). There is also a GUI front end of alien which makes converting RPM package much easier! Introducing Package Converter!
