With this article you can turn Ubuntu Focal Fossa into a full professional graphic design system. This enables mass resize pictures by one click. You are given 2D and 3D graphic editing tools for both raster and vector types including animation suite and video production. For photography, I include here darkroom tools and camera management software. Last but not least, I also include a game engine which is able to produce cross platform video games. I listed them here alphabetically with necessary information I think important placed under every name. All applications below are free software. I hope this article will be useful for you. Happy designing!

We've written about installing Synfig Studio from official repository. But actually Synfig has a very new version (called development version) available and it is not available yet in official repository. We see many improvements especially in user interface in this 1.1.14 version so we will try to install. It is Synfig Studio development version, so install it only in trial operating system (such as Ubuntu live session) and don't use it in production. Don't install this in a system where there is a previous Synfig Studio already installed.

In 2012, we've written a Synfig Studio guide for animation and installation. At that time, Synfig should be installed from outside Ubuntu repository. Now Synfig is available at Ubuntu official repository. We find Synfig Studio is available starting from Ubuntu 14.04 until 16.04. We can install Synfig studio by performing this command:

sudo apt-get install synfig synfigstudio
Explanation: this will install synfig package with its dependencies and install synfigstudio package which is GUI for synfig. This will download about 10 MB data in Ubuntu 14.04.
