Expanding my previous memory comparisons, now I present you Ubuntu Focal Fossa, Mint Ulyana, and Fedora 32 the three most famous operating systems which are always in top ten Distrowatch rank and released just recently in 2020. In the same time I compare respectively two desktop environments loved by the community namely GNOME and Cinnamon. All pictures above are in full size so simply click one to view it bigger. I hope this helps everyone choosing right distro and right desktop environment from many choices of GNU/Linux. Enjoy!

Released April, Ubuntu 20.04 LTS family including Kubuntu and others made available to all computer users worldwide. With one of these a person can make their computer working – fortunately different to Microsoft Windows they are Free/Libre Open Source Software operating system. To help people choose an Ubuntu edition, as I continuously do since 18.04 LTS two years ago, I present you here again my comparison chart 2020 edition accompanied with screenshots. As you can see here Ubuntu with GNOME requires the most memory while Lubuntu requires the least and Kubuntu's is equal Xubuntu's. I hope I help you choose the best and switch to the best one in this Focal Fossa release. Enjoy!

Ubuntu is an operating system that
does not require installation to run,
neither activation,
neither drivers CD for vga and wifi,
neither antivirus.

Previously the first part talked about Panorama - the appearance overview of past and current Ubuntu. Now this second part will talk about Power - the technical aspects "how it works" of Ubuntu most notably the installation and add/remove applications and configurations. Briefly, Ubuntu Desktop now transformed into more a mobile alike system similar to Android or iOS. Here you will find the one gigabyte memory load this version, how much the app installations changed, and things important about Ubuntu. Enjoy!

Continuing my previous Mem. Comparison 2018, here's my 2019 comparison with all editions of Ubuntu 19.04 "Disco Dingo". The operating system editions I use here are the eight: Ubuntu Desktop, Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Xubuntu, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Studio, Ubuntu Kylin, and Ubuntu Budgie. I installed every one of them on my laptop and (immediately at first login) took screenshot of the System Monitor (or Task Manager) without doing anything else.

(The Disco Dingo 2019 chart)

I present here the screenshots along with each variant's list of processes at the time I took them. And, you can download the ODS file I used to create the chart below. Finally, I hope this comparison helps all of you and next time somebody can make better comparisons.

I have installed and reviewed seven versions of beta 2 of Ubuntu and six Flavors 18.04 LTS. In each review, I took memory consumption information at idle time at first login time. I accumulate them in a table (LibreOffice Calc) and make a chart of them. Here's the result chart comparing all Ubuntu original, and Kubuntu up to Ubuntu Budgie, including the new generation Lubuntu Next with my data. The result could give you a rough information of which systems take more and which other systems take less memory. This comparison is not precise in benchmarking sense and you should not rely on this for scientific purpose.
