After installing a Chromium-based browser, you might want to block ads, enlarge font, change default download location, and put the icon on desktop. Among others, I suggest you uBlock Origin and HTTPS Everywhere extensions below. I use Iridium Browser (libre version of Chromium) here as example, so you can apply the same to Chrome as well as other Chromium-based browsers. I hope this article helps you. Enjoy!

Iridium Browser is not available on Trisquel 8.0 repository. It is a libre alternative to Google Chrome as published on FSF Directory (at least up to now 12 January 2018). You may want this as you need the web development features of Chrome but you don't want to use the Parabola-blacklisted Chromium Browser. The latest version now is 2018.11.71.1 based on Chromium 71 source code. If you want to install it on Trisquel 8.0, as long as your computer is 64-bit, you can follow instructions below. Enjoy!

This short tutorial shows how to install Iridium, the privacy and security powered browser, on Ubuntu 18.04. Remember that Iridium is only available for 64 bit, no official 32 bit available.

1) Add the repository key of Iridium:
$ wget -qO - https://downloads.iridiumbrowser.de/ubuntu/iridium-release-sign-01.pub | sudo apt-key add -

2) Add the repository into a new sources.list:

You can add only the first one below. However, the second one is the source code repository and you can add it (and remove the # to enable it) if you need it.
$ echo "deb [arch=amd64] https://downloads.iridiumbrowser.de/deb/ stable main" | sudo tee --append /etc/apt/sources.list.d/iridium-browser.list

$ echo "#deb-src https://downloads.iridiumbrowser.de/deb/ stable main" | sudo tee --append /etc/apt/sources.list.d/iridium-browser.list

Edited 12 January  2018: thank you Vincent from comment section and Plop Plopesol from social media for correcting my mistake here. I am very grateful for you two!

3) Reload your repository index:
$ sudo apt-get update

4) Install Iridium Browser:
$ sudo apt-get install iridium-browser

Once installed, you can find Iridum on your menu. Enjoy!

Iridium is a Chromium-based browser that focused on privacy and security. It disabled many Google features/services by default (e.g. changing the search to Qwant), block third-party cookies, added more latest technologies (like WebRTC), with more security enhancements. It's an entry on FSF Directory that replace Chromium. It's officially available for GNU/Linux (Ubuntu & openSUSE), Mac OS X, and Windows. Here how to install Iridium on Ubuntu.
