After examples of productive activities, I think it's time to know the ways to install more software on Trisquel GNU/Linux. Officially there is one way: run you Synaptic Package Manager and get software with it. This way gets you software from official Trisquel repository. That is the normal way we get more software on Trisquel. I will discuss how to do it first using Synaptic with internet access and later with Terminal without internet access. I consider it's enough to just download everything from official repository without third-party ones as it's guaranteed to be 100% free software. I hope this will help you a lot and make you days using Trisquel much more easier. Enjoy!

Trisquel 8.0 LTS has been released at Wednesday, 18 April 2018. I regard it as the successful software freedom operating system of 2018. Trisquel GNU/Linux consists of 100% free software both in the system and in the repository. Look at it, compare it to regular distros, it's very lightweight and also complete by default (i.e. can play MP3 and MP4); then compare it to another freedom distros, it's long-standing (since 2007) plus actively developed and supported by its community; while it's already user friendly both in desktop appearance (MATE 1.12) and in the installation process (Ubiquity). For all kind of computer users especially software freedom people, I recommend Trisquel 8.0 for your computers!

Continuing the printing tutorial, scanning is also pretty easy on both Ubuntu 18.04 and Trisquel 8.0. We use one preinstalled program called Simple Scan there. Again, with the same device Canon MP160 printer+scanner (100% compatible with GNU/Linux), this tutorial explains the steps to do. You don't need to install any additional driver on both system to scan with this scanner. Happy scanning!

It is pretty easy. I use Canon MP160 as the printer here, as this inkjet printer mentioned as completely GNU/Linux compatible by h-node.org, so it’s automatically detected and no additional drivers needed on Ubuntu and Trisquel operating systems. You see how to print out documents (using LibreOffice), photos (using Shotwell/Image Viewer), and PDF (using Evince/Atril reader) on both systems. I hope this tutorial helps you both in printing and choosing best printer on GNU/Linux. Enjoy printing!

Changing the rule to open a type of file with certain application is easy on Trisquel 8.0 operating system. You can particularly change the association of each file type (MP3, ZIP, etc.) with application you choose. Furthermore, you can also change your default browser, mail client, . First, for example, you want MP3 to be opened always with Rhythmbox instead of VLC (because by default it’s VLC): right-click on an MP3 file > Properties > Open With > select Rhythmbox from selection > close.

Trisquel 8.0 GNU/Linux operating system finally released at Thursday, 18 April 2018 by Ruben Rodriguez. It is available in three versions of Regular, Mini, and Kids editions, each in 32 and 64 bit.
