I like StartPage.com as my search engine but I don't find it as option on elementary OS 5.0 web browser. The options available there are only Bing, DuckDuckGo, and Google. Not to mention StartPage.com itself currently doesn't support Epiphany with addon. So I add it manually and hey, apparently it's very easy! Here's how to do it:

  • 1) Run the web browser (Epiphany)
  • 2) Open the gear menu button > Preferences
  • 3) Click manage search engine > click + button >
  • 4) Paste this URL there https://startpage.com/do/search?language=english&cat=web&query=%s
  • 5) Name it StartPage and close
  • 6) Test searching with it. It should now uses StartPage.com as your default search engine.
